Safeguarding & Wellbeing
The Growth Learning Collective (Newington Green and Rotherfield Primary Schools) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play in safeguarding children.
School staff are particularly important in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, as we are in a position to identify concerns early and provide help for children. Our staff form part of the wider safeguarding system for children to prevent concerns from escalating. We work with children’s social care, the police, health services and other relevant agencies to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.
In most circumstances, we endeavour to discuss all concerns with parents about their children. However, there may be exceptional circumstances when the school will discuss concerns with Social Care and/or the Police without parental knowledge (in accordance with statutory and Islington Safeguarding Children Partnership [ISCP] procedures).
The schools will, of course, always aim to maintain a positive relationship with all parents.
The GLC pays full regard to DfE guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ updated annually. We ensure that all appropriate measures are applied in relation to everyone who works in the school who is likely to be perceived by the children as a safe and trustworthy adult including e.g. volunteers and staff employed by contractors.
The school’s Safeguarding Policy (including child protection) is available within our policies page.
